PROGRAM UPDATE:
The Buyout Committee has disbanded as of March 20, 2007 . Committee members could no longer agree that proceeding with the Buyout was in the best interest of the groundfish fishery.  All parties recognized from the start of this effort that there would be considerable hurdles to overcome.  The Committee undertook a tremendous amount of research, analysis and outreach on this issue, and given different circumstances or timing the results may have been far different.  A file showing the final votes of the Committee members is now posted, and the Committee will no longer be working to move the Buyout forward.
